Christ atoned for us: Christ descended below and
overcame all things. His pure love and power will
never fail us. As we rely wholly on His merits, mercy and grace, He will
cleanse, heal, enable and strengthen us. Because of Christ’s atonement, we can
always leave the past behind and start anew.
How do we receive the blessings of His atonement? By
trusting the promises of Christ that flow from His atoning sacrifice. By
accepting Him as our Savior here below, taking upon us His name, and serving in
His household. By walking forward in newness of life.
Scriptures on Atonement
We believe that through the
Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the
laws and ordinances of the Gospel.
Now Aaron began to open the scriptures unto them concerning the coming of Christ,
and also concerning the resurrection of the dead, and that there could
be no redemption for mankind save it were through the death and
sufferings of Christ, and the atonement of his blood.
Wherefore, beloved brethren, be reconciled unto him through the atonement of Christ,
his Only Begotten Son, and ye may obtain a resurrection, according to
the power of the resurrection which is in Christ, and be presented as the first-fruits of Christ
But little children are holy, being sanctified through the atonement of Jesus Christ; and this is what the scriptures mean.
And he that saith that little children need baptism denieth the mercies of Christ, and setteth at naught the atonement of him and the power of his redemption.
And now, beloved, marvel not that I tell you these things; for why not speak of the atonement of Christ,
and attain to a perfect knowledge of him, as to attain to the
knowledge of a resurrection and the world to come?
And what is it that ye shall hope for? Behold I say unto you that ye shall have hope through the atonement of Christ
and the power of his resurrection, to be raised unto life eternal, and
this because of your faith in him according to the promise.
Korihor, the anti-Christ, ridicules Christ, the Atonement, and the spirit of prophecy—He teaches that there is no God, no fall of man, no penalty for sin, and no Christ—Alma testifies that Christ
For
the natural man is an enemy to God, and has been from the fall of Adam,
and will be, forever and ever, unless he yields to the enticings of the
Holy Spirit, and putteth off the natural man and becometh a saint
through the atonement of Christ
